Music Ministries

Music is a servant of the Gospel and the primary means of worshiping God at Gloria DeiLutheran Church. In addition to joining our choirs or instrumental groups, there are other opportunities for instrumentalists and vocalists to share their musical gifts during worship at Gloria Dei. Members and friends are encouraged to contact Laura Wiebe, director of Music Ministries, to schedule a musical offering. Please join us!

Choir

 New singers always welcome!

  • Children's Choir (K-3) meets upstairs in the Luther Room at 6:30 pm on Wednesday nights during the school year. Diane Larsen and Maggie Monson are directors.
  • Youth Choir (grades 4-8) meets in the sanctuary at 6:30 pm on Wednesday nights during the school year
  • Senior Choir (adults) meets at 7:30 p.m., or at 7:50 p.m. during the season of Lent on Wednesday nights

Summer choir

For summer, all are invited to sing. In July and August, the choir alternates 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services each week. Rehearsals are at 7:30 a.m. for the early service and 9:45 a.m. for the late service. There are NO evening rehearsals, NO robes, and NO long-term commitment. Try it for one Sunday or for the entire summer! We would love to see some new faces as we glorify God through music.

Ensemble groups

Gloria Dei is blessed with many musical talents! A Brass Ensemble plays for Festival Sundays, while the Wittenburg Steamroller--directed by Jerry Zinn--gathers instrumentals from the congregation and plays holiday music on the Sunday before Christmas. See below for 2011 rehearsal schedule:

Tuesday, Dec. 6, 7 - 8 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 11, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Thursday, Dec. 15, 7 - 8 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 17, 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
